On June 10, 2017, Dr. Zachary Michalicek joined the professional staff of the Utah OME. Dr. Michalicek comes to us having just completed his fellowship in Forensic Pathology with the Cook County Medical Examiner Office in Chicago. Welcome!
On June 1, 2017, there was an official opening ceremony for the State of Utah Module 2 facility which houses the Office of the Medical Examiner, the Utah State Crime Lab and a portion of the Dept. of Agriculture. Many dignitaries were present which culminated with a ribbon cutting by Gov. Gary Herbert and tours of the facility.
WE HAVE MOVED
The OME relocated to our new facility on February 1, 2017. Our new address is 4451 South 2700 West, Taylorsville, Utah. To see what our new home looks like check out the photos on our ‘Facility’ page.
On November 7, 2016, Joseph Pestaner M.D., joined the staff of the Utah OME. He comes to us from Sacramento and has years of experience as a forensic pathologist. He is also board certified in pediatric pathology.
FUTURE STAFFING ADDITIONS
Our recruitment process for additional doctors has been a success. We have commitments from three doctors currently in their year of sub-specialty training in forensic pathology. They are:
Dr. Zachary Michalicek from Chicago
Dr. Kacy Krehbiel from Albuquerque
Dr. Jason Lozano from San Antonio
We anticipate their arrivals in July and August of 2017!
GOODBYE and THANK YOU
The Utah OME lost two of our Forensic Pathologists in August of 2016.
After 30 years of service to the OME, Dr. Todd Grey retired.
Dr. Julie Schrader resigned her position to become an Assistant Medical Examiner in Washoe County (Reno) Nevada.
We wish them both well in their new endeavors.
Dr. Erik Christensen was selected to replace Dr. Grey as the Chief Medical Examiner.
